The guy who has hacked the ipone, is now spending a lot of his time to do the same with the PS3. According to his latest blog entries he is making good progress and successfully carried out memory transfers. Now, one might raise the question what’s the benefit of this exercise? I think basically two user groups will be interested in his progress. First of all, there are the “bad guys”, who will start piracy applications, once the hack is on a solid base. The second user group, I believe, comes from the community who wants to access the processing power of the chips inside the PS3 and utlize it for some number crunching. Until now Sony did not comment or react on the announcement that the PS3 is hacked, but sooner or later we will hear something from them …
