Since I am here in Okinawa I will try the local beer brand, i.e. Orion beer tonight. German beer brewing tradition has spread centuries ago to Japan and made the alcoholic drink quite popular across the country. However, when Orion started brewing beer in Okinawa with a German recipe they did not produce a best-seller on the island. Only after changing the brewing way to follow an American style beer production the company gained the top share in the Okinawa market. This can be easily explained by the fact that thousands of US soldiers are based on Okinawa and the company had just attracted them as customers when changing the brewing process to follow the same recipes as US companies do.
Nevertheless, I am going to order an Orion tonight and hope not get something served as bad as a Bud light.
